Philosophy Paper Topics for Your DissertationThis year, a number of philosophy paper topics will be available to graduate students in the humanities. There is a lot of great information available online. There are five major topics: How do we know that what we think is true? What causes our beliefs to change?
The topics focus on existential philosophers Friedrich Nietzsche and Martin Heidegger, the German-born philosophers of the late twentieth century. The books of Nietzsche deal with different questions related to the nature of existence. His theory focuses on the idea that humans are driven by a void that makes human life seem very meaningless. Heidegger's work is based on the idea that life is not merely about survival is important but that we are also driven by an other worldly essence that might be revealed in a sublime form. The two have criticized each other throughout their time together.
Nietzsche's dark side includes one essay, 'The Antichrist' in which he makes a claim that everything will come to an end and this will lead to the rise of a new leader and the end of the world. One has to remember that while it was originally intended as a fictional work, it was used as a guide for future events that could occur. In recent years, it has been frequently used to warn against the perils of the human condition.
In his work 'On Being and Nothingness', Heidegger claims that everything we perceive is actually empty. He then goes on to suggest that being is to become an object and that this creates confusion. The question, as he states, is 'what is there?' While Heidegger's work deals with what is beyond what is, his works have often been read as a justification for the Holocaust.
There is little doubt that this philosophy will be a part of the contemporary Western culture. For the most part, those who read these works are looking for answers to the questions they have. And, of course, there is the question, what causes our beliefs to change? It is interesting to consider the way the followers of Nietzsche and Heidegger have changed the world we live in. Many of them spent years or decades searching for answers and at the end of their lives, they may find themselves disappointed by what they found.
If you are a student, it's easy to get carried away by the topics of the papers and wonder why this is a part of today's world. But there is also a danger in getting too involved in these works because they are quite controversial and because of the people they express negative views about. This could be your dissertation topic or you might not even write your own thesis.
As you can see, it is possible to make a difficult decision and that will make your research even more interesting. Make sure you ask your advisor if this is something you want to pursue.
